writing a blog for me is sometimes is like answering emails.
first you have no time to do it
and then again, you´ve got time, but ...
so here ... after quite a while ... the newsletter again!
summer in europe was great.
starting with the incredible "serralves em festa" in porto/potugal (see a short video below) and a trio gig with ken vandermark and martin brandlmayr at konfrotationen nickelsdorf - watch here. i had some time off in vienna before leaving for the "echtzeitmusiktage 2010" in berlin, where i played with hammeriver, the magic i.d. and a solo with many guests (martin brandlmayr, kai fagaschinski, fernanda farah, sofia jernberg, margareth kammerer, ignaz schick, michael thieke & clayton thomas).
one other highlight of this summer was of course a festival i organized together with michaela grill and steve bates in canada. "What’s Up Vienna! What’s Up Montreal/Winnipeg!" in montreal and winnipeg. since a month we are working on realizing the austrian edition of it, which will take place in vienna in june 2011.
now, back in argentina since short time, i had a performance with argentine dancer josefina zuain and a trio concert with leonel kaplan and edén carrasco.
next week im off to the u.s., where i will perform with james falzone as part of the umbrella music festival in chicago and later, in new york with marina rosenfeld and lucky dragons at marian spore.
back in buenos aires i will organize a charhizma night with alexandre babel, mio chareteau and others and play a duo with chilean guitarist toto alvaréz and another one with argentine pianist fabiana galante before heading to chile to take part in the "festival tsonami 2010" with leonel kaplan, edén carrasco and nicolás carrasco.
end of november will see another charhizma night in buenos aires, before we will premiere my duo with ken vandermark in december in florianopolis / brazil.

hi everybody!
a little late ... but here it is!
as we are approaching the end of the month already, its unfortunately soon time to say good bye to latin america. i had a great time here since december and all i can tell you is that ill be back soon.
besides playing some really great shows with Nicole Bindler (here is a little text she wrote) George Cremaschi and Leonel Kaplan (here a little video) and performing in duo with argentine dancer/musician/visual artist Josefina Zuain, i worked in the last weeks on a theaterplay, set up by argentine choreographer Laura Valencia called "Mar De Fondo", which will be premiered in la plata end of may.
a short trip to uruguay, a charhizma night, a dj set in one my favourite bars, the 878 and some more concerts with Leonel Kaplan, Reinaldo Young, Toto Alvarez, Alan Courtis, Pablo Reche, Jaime Genovart & Edén Carrasco and i will be heading back to europe.
there i´ll have the great honor to fall right into a great festival where i will perform with some of my best friends, i havent seen in a long time: Bernhard Fleischmann, Martin Brandlmayr, Burkhard Stangl, Kai Fagaschinski, Michael Thieke & Margareth Kammerer. all this happens in the Fundacao Serralves on 5th and 7th of june and includes a lot more international and local artists.

and then ... looking forward to the Festival "Konfrontationen Nickelsdorf 2010" where i will perform in Michael Thiekes "Guy Maddin Project" with Martin Siewert and Martin Brandlmayr as well in a Trio with Brandlmayr and Ken Vandermark. (16. & 17.07.).

hi everybody!
after 2 1/2 months in latin america, this is the second newsletter in 2010, that reaches you from buenos aires.
three charhizma nights and a concert with Fred Frith later, i'm still planing on staying here for quite a while.
playing with us american dancer Nicole Bindler and argentine trumpeter Leonel Kaplan next week, i will go on to chile to record an album together with great chilean saxophone player Edén Carrasco. some time in the studio and a live concert should gather enough material, to do so.
when returning to buenos aires, there will be some more concerts with Leonel Kaplan. one more with Nicole Bindler and in april we look forward to play three concerts together with George Cremaschi (bass, electronics).
so far the charhizma nights have been very well attended (unfortunately Lawrence English and Werner Dafeldecker couldn't make it to the last one, being in argentina, but caught by heavy weather in the antarctic). the next one will take place the 27th of march and then on 24th of april.
me, i'm focused right now on a theater play, set up by argentine choreographer Laura Valencia called "Mar De Fondo", which will be premiered in Teatro Martin Fierro en la plata end of april and on setting up workshops in latin america.

feliz ano nuevo / happy new year / frohes neues Jahr / ...
i'm currently in latin america, where i will stay for quite some time, performing, teaching, meeting people and of course vacationing. the end of 2009 has finally been quite busy playing with "the magic i.d." in berlin and rome and with my project "el infierno musical" in salzburg, wels and vienna. both of these bands were also recording new material at amann studios vienna. besides i played a concert with schnee in vienna, with clayton thomas, fernanda farrah and seby ciurcina in berlin and a "charhizma farewell-to-europa" concert with ken vandermark, martin brandlmayr, burkhard stangl, mats gustaffson, martin siewert, susanna gartmayer, christof dienz, florian kmet, klaus filip, dieb 13, didi kern, clementine gasser, thomas berghammer and franz hautzinger in vienna
since being in latin america (16.12.2009) i started to organize a series of concerts and performances, that will happen once monthly at least. so far i invited laura valencia, pablo reche, leonel kaplan and santiago peresón (19.12.2009), fred frith (06.01.2010) and tobias delius, leandro barzabal, natalia tencer and florencia ruiz (30.01.2009).
so if you are near buenos aires, please contact me.
in february i will leave for chile in order to continue my concerts with chlenean guitarist toto alvarez and to give a workshop on communication within music.

long time no newsletter ... so, here it is!
in the past months i was working more in the studio, than playing live.
finally out - the new cd on mikroton: "The Violet Quartet" (with werner dafeldecker, john tilbury and stevie wishart).
out as well - a concert recording of My Kingdom For A Lullaby as part of the Send & Receive Anniversary Box Set.
i sang on tracks for kammerflimmer kollektief and paul baran and produced a radio play called "Börsenkrach" about past and current financial crisis at worm studio rotterdam. it was premiered the 25th of october, the 90th anniversary of black thursday/friday, at radio VPRO in the netherlands and will be released next year on cd.
recorded 3 tracks for the klingt.org anniversary sampler (with Schnee, "The Magic I.D. and with Fernando Perales/ Toto Alvarez/ Gustavo Serpa)
apart from some concerts in argentina, and some with Schnee, Hammeriver and Obliq, i worked on new tracks for "The Magic I.D.", which amongst others, were recorded 2 weeks ago at Amann Studios in vienna and on new pieces for "El Infierno Musical", which will be recorded same place beginning of December, before, while and after playing some concerts in austria (see below).
this weekend has a concert with Schnee, The Magic I.D. and with a special project "Songs Robert sang" with Clayton Thomas and as guests Seby Ciurcina and Fernanda Farrah.
in december my way is one more time to argentina, where i will stay for quite some time.

hi everybody!
summer as usually is a quiet time, so i had a chance to work on a radio play for anouschka trocker. "juli" by iwan wyrypajev, was aired in mid july on radio berlin brandenburg and seemingly was successful as some other radio stations told us to be broadcasting it soon as well.
apart from that i worked on a remix for italian "singer-songwriter" seby ciurcina and started to work on two songs for the kammerflimmer kollektief album. next up: singing on the track "himmelstraße" for paul barans new album
next week going to rotterdam to stay at cultural center "worm" for a one week residency and preparing a new solo piece of mine.
after this my way is one more time to argentina to play some concerts with leonel kaplan, toto alvarez, fernando perales and fabiana galante.

happy to announce the release of 2 new cds.
schnee: neuschnee on erstpop (usa) and
courtis/genovart/kurzmann/reche: palmar zähler on mikroton recordings (ru) schnee just presented their new album a week ago in vienna with guests michaela grill, mike cooper, michael thieke, luca venitucci and dj bernhard fleischmann & hergo. the next day thieke, venitucci, cooper, fleischmann and me went to graz (forum stadtpark), where we met george cremaschi and liz albee to present our music in a "charhizma-label-night". this week schnee is invited to present their music in a festival in kosice/slovakia, then i head back to berlin to work on a radioplay (Juli by Iwan Vyrypajev) with anouschka trocker.

feliz ano nuevo / happy new year / frohes neues Jahr / ...
this is my first newsletter, which from now on will appear more or less regularly.
i'm currently in latin america, where i will stay utill the end of march, performing, teaching, meeting people and of course vacationing. the end of 2008 has finally been quite busy playing with a berlin based improvisers pool in "enjoy festival" mainz/germany, with the chris burn ensemble in the french festival "densités" in fresnes-en-woëvre, with "the magic i.d." in graz/austria, with my new project "el infierno musical" in the festival "music unlimited" in wels/austria and with "hammeriver" in berlin.
since being in latin america (12.12.2008) i´ve played lots of concerts from solo to ensemble with alan courtis, george cremaschi, jaime genovart, leonel kaplan, fernando perales, pablo reche in buenos aires/argentina, taken part in the 17th edition of the "festival musica livre" in florianopolis/brazil, recorded a duo with brazilian noise musician gustavo serpa from the band "abesta" and played a few concerts in valparaiso and santiago (both chile) with eden carrasco, nicolas carrasco, toto alvarez, and "la kut", held a week-long workshop for improvised music in "campus oriente" of the university of santiago de chile as well as in the fundacion telefonica in lima/peru, where i also have performed a duo with japanese violinist pauchi sasaki.
a few days ago i have organized the first "charhizma night" in una casa, buenos aires/argentina. which happened to be quite successful.
still upcoming are concerts in cordoba, la plata, a cd presentation (see below) and a concert with dog (tatsuya nakatani and leonel kaplan).
so a lot of things going on here in latin america, more or less invisible to the "western world".
